Rock these teardrop DIY Lotería earrings! And the best part?
They are pretty simple to make.
I literally whipped these up in about 20 minutes right before a Loteria-themed event.
SUPPLIES:
Glossy wrapping paper (I found Loteria designs here)
Wood teardrop-shaped earring blanks
White craft glue
Scissors ( I like these micro-tipped scissors)
NOTE: The glossy wrapping paper is heavy, you don’t need to add varnish unless you want. If you do, add a layer of white craft glue over the top, let dry and then add spray varnish.
If your paper is not not glossy or coated: you’ll need to do the above step if you want your earrings shiny. If you don’t add the glue before you varnish, the varnish will seep through and ruin the images.
Directions:
Lightly sand the wood pieces to make sure they are smooth.

Cut a section from the Loteria gift wrap, it will be easier to work with.

Apply a thin coat of glue from edge-to-edge on one side of the earring blank. Do the other earring blank.
Set the wrapping paper face down, make sure it is even!

Press the wood pieces, glue side down on the back of the wrapping paper. Let dry for a couple minutes.
Use the scissors to cut away the excess paper.

Repeat for the other side of the earring blanks.

Make sure the edges of the paper are sealed to the edges of the wood. Lightly sand to blend it even better.

Use the craft paint or paint pen to outline the earrings, and decorative accents if you want.

Use needle nose pliers to attach the jump ring and the earring hook.
OPTIONAL: Add a dangling crystal charm in the front.

I love how these turned out, fast and easy to make!

Adding the dangling crystal levels them up…
