Rock these teardrop DIY Lotería earrings!

Rock these teardrop DIY Lotería earrings! And the best part?

They are pretty simple to make.

I literally whipped these up in about 20  minutes right before a Loteria-themed event.

SUPPLIES:

Glossy wrapping paper (I found Loteria designs here)

Wood teardrop-shaped earring blanks

White craft glue

Scissors ( I like these micro-tipped scissors)

4 or 6 mm jump rings

Fish hook earring hooks

Craft paint or paint pens

NOTE: The glossy wrapping paper is heavy, you don’t need to add varnish unless you want. If you do, add a layer of white craft glue over the top, let dry and then add spray varnish.

If your paper is not not glossy or coated: you’ll need to do the above step if you want your earrings shiny. If you don’t add the glue before you varnish, the varnish will seep through and ruin the images.

Directions:

Lightly sand the wood pieces to make sure they are smooth.

Apply a thin coat of glue from edge-to-edge on one side of the earring blank. Do the other earring blank.

Set the wrapping paper face down, make sure it is even!

Press the wood pieces, glue side down on the back of the wrapping paper. Let dry for a couple minutes.

Use the scissors to cut away the excess paper.

Repeat for the other side of the earring blanks.

Make sure the edges of the paper are sealed to the edges of the wood. Lightly sand to blend it even better.

Use the craft paint or paint pen to outline the earrings, and decorative accents if you want.

Use needle nose pliers to attach the jump ring and the earring hook.

OPTIONAL: Add a dangling crystal charm in the front.

And here are more ideas of things to make with your leftover Loteria gift wrap:

Lotería wrapping paper is vibrant and full of iconic imagery, making it perfect for DIY jewelry projects. Here are five creative ways to turn it into stunning accessories:

Resin pendant necklaces

  • Cut out small Lotería images from the wrapping paper.
  • Place them in a bezel tray or a silicone mold.
  • Pour clear resin over the image and let it cure.
  • Attach a jump ring and a chain to complete the necklace.

Glass cabochon earrings

  • Use a circle or oval punch to cut out Lotería designs that fit glass cabochons.
  • Glue the image onto the back of the cabochon using Mod Podge or clear resin.
  • Attach earring posts or hooks to turn them into chic statement earrings.

Wooden bangle bracelets

  • Wrap a wooden bangle bracelet with cut-out Lotería images.
  • Use Mod Podge to adhere and seal the paper onto the bracelet.
  • Finish with a glossy or matte sealant for durability.

Bottle cap rings & pins

  • Place a small Lotería image inside a bottle cap.
  • Fill with resin or a clear glaze to create a glossy finish.
  • Glue a ring base to the back for a funky ring or attach a pin backing to wear as a brooch.
