Here is how to make a DIY charm bracelet you’ll love.
I call it a manifestation charm bracelet – or a good energy charm bracelet, a story time bracelet – you choose!
The idea is to be intentional with what you wear, and even what you make. Go through your supplies, or jewelry stash in general and see what themes you can pull together to create a wearable story.
Maybe it can be in the theme of what you want to attract into your life – good health, love, travel, adventure, peace-of-mind…you get the idea!
DIY charm bracelet
Again, making your own charm bracelet is such a magical way to carry a story on your wrist—whether it’s full of memories, symbols of empowerment, or just sparkly things that make you smile!
Supplies:
NOTE: These are all “affordable” supplies, for a higher quality, go with real silver or gold.
7″ charm bracelet, with clasps
7mm or 8 mm, even 10 mm jump rings work well, depending on the size of your chain links and charms – and how you want it to look.
Charms (here is a link to all kinds, so many to choose from!)
Optional: I Eye pins or head pins if you plan to add beads (not on jump rings)
Directions:
Set out your chain and arrange your charms to your liking.
Open up your jump rings, one for each charm.
How to open a jump ring the correct way: Use two pairs of pliers to gently twist the ring open side to side—not apart. This keeps the circle’s shape intact. Thread on your charm, find the perfect spot on your bracelet chain, and then twist it closed the same way. You should hear a little “click” if it’s nice and tight!
Repeat with all your charms—space them evenly, or cluster them up for a fun jingly vibe.
How to wire wrap a bead to make a charm
Want to make your own bead charms to add to your bracelet? Here’s how to wire wrap a bead so it stays put and looks pro!
Start with a 2″ head pin or eye pin and slide on your favorite bead.
Leave about 1/2″ to 3/4″ of wire above the bead.
Using round-nose pliers, grip the wire just above the bead and bend it back to a 90-degree angle.
Now reposition the pliers to the tip of the wire and start curling it around one of the plier jaws to create a loop. You can stop here if you’re using an eye pin and just want a basic loop—but for a secure wire wrap, keep going.
Finish it up!
Hold the loop with flat-nose pliers and use your fingers or chain-nose pliers to wrap the remaining wire tightly around the base, right above the bead. Make about 2–3 neat wraps, then trim off the excess with wire cutters.
Use the nipper tool to gently pinch down any sharp ends.
Now you’ve got a sturdy, gorgeous beaded charm—ready to hang with a jump ring on your bracelet!
