Here are some wonderful affordable summer family activities to try!
Summer is just around the corner. Once the kids are out of school, you’ll need to have some plans to keep them busy. However, summer family activities can get expensive fairly quickly! For those of us on a budget, it can be difficult to find things to do that won’t cost too much.
Here are a few ideas you can use this summer if you’re on a budget.
Arts and crafts
Not all summer days are going to be perfectly sunny. On rainy days or days where going outside isn’t an option, set up the kids with some arts and crafts projects. This will keep them busy indoors without relying on screens or technology. You’ll be surprised just how much kids can do with some paint or some crayons!
Park visits and sports

Taking a walk to your local park can be great for both you and your kids. Get up and moving by getting the kids involved in some new sports; you’ll be able to fit in some exercise yourself as well. Bringing activity into your child’s routine is important for their health. Getting active isn’t just for the kids either. You can get in on the fun too!
Road trips

If you’re itching for a bit of travel but don’t want to bring kids on a flight. Plan a short day trip to a local destination. If you’re feeling ambitious, schedule a road trip with the family. Just make sure you get your car tuned up before you hit the road!
Museum days

Do you have a young aspiring artist or scientist in your house? Visit your local museum or art gallery for the day to let their imaginations run wild. Many museums offer discounted or free admission days to encourage people to visit. Keep an eye on the calendar for those opportunities.
Doing good

One of the best affordable activities you can do for both your family and others is getting the family involved in volunteering. Look for local organizations near you that could use a bit of support. A local food bank, animal shelter, or clothing drive are always good. Including family in volunteering encourages your kids to continue volunteering and doing good for others as they get older.
Summer can be a great opportunity for families to spend time together, and there are plenty of options for activities that won’t break the bank. Use these ideas as a starting point for planning your summer activities. Thanks for checking out my post about affordable summer family activities!
